Description

The butterfly galaxies NGC 4567 and 4568 colliding violently 60 million light years away.

These two barred spiral galaxies are in the early stages of their collision and are part of the Virgo galaxy cluster, a collection of hundreds of galaxies gravitationally connected.
This image was a struggle from my backyard on the weekend with some sleepless nights and technical problems. I am so grateful to my fellow RASC members  for helping me work though the technical mess.
We astrophotographers love to solve problems it seems, even problems that don’t belong to us!
